Sat behind a group of students on an airplane last week. One girl hopped online to take a math exam. Very complex equations from what I could tell. Naturally, her screen was split between two browsers: one on the left, for the exam; one on the right, for a math AI website. She’d copy and paste the questions from the left into the right browser, then copy and paste the answers from the right into the left browser.

Bingo bango: and that’s how it’s done in higher ed today. The left browser is the ed-tech dream; the right is the A.I. reality. What one hand offers, the other takes away. Heads they win, tails we lose.
